On Day 7 of my 13 Days of Halloween, I’m paying homage to one of the greatest Halloween families of all time, The Munsters. Do you remember the odd inhabitants at 1313 Mockingbird Lane, Herman, Lily, Grandpa, Marilyn and Eddie?
What about the coffin telephone booth?
In case you’re having some Munster cravings, NBC’s COZI TV network began airing episodes weekdays at 5:00pm ET and 5:30pm ET starting October 4th.
To honor their return, I’ve decided to ‘Munster My Mantel’ for Day 7 of my 13 Days of Halloween. In tribute to the monochromatic filming of the show, I’ll start by sharing photos in black and white to see if you can guess the color scheme.
Here’s a close up of the top of the mantel…
….and the lighted garland.
Here’s the hearth.
And now for the color photos…isn’t the difference amazing? Did you guess the color scheme from the black and white photos?
The garland is a combination of a flocked black base overlayed with red tinsel “veins”. Next, I incorporated two different styles of battery-operated LEDs. The ‘Happy Halloween‘ blocks are a GrandinRoad find.
Mr. Crow is situated in his cage and ready for the festivities to begin. The black and white striped ribbon is from Michaels. A few black and red masks add to the Halloween theme.
A red, blown glass pumpkin and silver skull flank the other end.
The hearth features a tombstone inscribed ‘Rest in Pieces‘ in front of the fireplace.
There’s also a trio of blood dripping LED candles…
… and more red pumpkins. Seems like “red is the new orange” in Halloween decor and it provides a more elegant look.
Here’s one last look at the top.
And a view to see how it sets the mood for the room.
How do you ‘Munster Your Mantlel’?
I love the way you decorated your mantle for Halloween.
I found you on the 2015 Halloween Spooktacular Link Up page.
Happy Halloween
Meena, thanks for taking the time to comment on the mantle. Lots of good stuff at the 2015 Hallowen Spooktacular Link Up!
Sharing ‘Anchored in Sweets’ with my neighbor who is wife of retired NAVY pilot. She’s going to love your blog!
Wow! I am loving how you pulled this all together and what a difference black and white and color photos make! The Munsters were one of my favorite show when I was growing up! I don’t think I ever noticed that the phone booth was a coffin, lol. Thanks so much for linking up with us at Best of the Weekend!
Jenna, thanks so much for your comment. Love 24 Cottonwood Lane. So much great inspiration!
