On Day 6 of my 13 Days of Halloween, I’m adding some devilish door decor to my front door in preparation for trick-or-treaters. In addition to putting decorations on the double doors, I like to outline the arched transom above the doors with garland. The garland, door swags and urn fillers are from GrandinRoad a few years ago. They are part of the ‘Midnight Twilight’ collection. Although they’re not the typical Halloween or fall colors, they do provide a striking contrast against the light-color brick.
Here’s a daylight photo showing the complete collection.
I added the bow and skeleton walking sticks to the door swags to give them more pizazz. I tied the skeleton sticks into an “X” formation and attached them to the swag.
Here’s a more detailed view of the skeleton heads. One has black hair and a braided mustache and the other has a Viking-like helmet.
The urn fillers compliment the garland and the swags. The tall wispy twigs provide height and interest. The urns are from Home Depot.
Here’s a closer look at the materials. They are composed of nicely contrasting colors and fall gourds in muted colors.
I added a “Something Wicked this Way Comes” door mat. It is also a GrandinRoad purchase.
The Midnight Twilight Collection didn’t come prelit, so I added lights. They are supposed to be purple, but have a pinkish hue. Since October is also Breast Cancer Awareness month, I can say I’m being politically correct.
Looks like a need to add some lights to the swags if possible. Then I’m ready to decorate behind the doors!
