Once again our family participated in the 2016 Frantic Frog Triathlon. The Scottsboro TriSport Club hosts the triathlon annually on the weekend after labor day. This year we had seven participants to challenge the frog.
Thankfully, the weather at Goose Pond Colony was perfect. The race started promptly at 8am with a 400-meter swim in Lake Guntersville; followed by a 24-kilometer bike ride; and finished with a 5-kilometer run. Entry fees start at $45 per person and $70 per team, with all proceeds benefitting the American Red Cross.
Our 2016 Frantic Frog Participants
Out of our seven participants, we had four individual and one team entry. All of our guys, Alex, Mason, Steven and Tim competed individually, while the girls, Angela, Janet, and me participated as a team. Angela graciously agreed to swim, I put pedal to metal on the bike, and Janet ignited the afterburners to make up for lost time in the run.
Top Finishers
I’m happy to report that we had an official, bonafide winner in the family this year. Mason won the male, 20-24 age group category with a 1st place finish! Not too shabby, and looks like his Cross Fit training is paying dividends.
The girlie team also placed in the top three of the Masters category.
Good Times and Good Food
One of the best perks of the Frantic Frog is the cool frog-themed race shirts and after-race food. We always look forward to the Jambalaya and beer! Not to mention the pizzas.
