Beautiful Bluff Wedding atop Monte Sano

I am beyond thrilled to share the beautiful bluff wedding celebrating the marriage of Casey Marriott and Brandon Jones. Although rain was forecast on their special day, here’s a perfect example of turning lemons into lemonade. Thank Mother Nature for the fog and Erin Lindsey for capturing the breathtaking scenes below.  Someone please cue Alanis Morrissette that a little “rai-ai-ain on your wedding day” can be a good thing!

The Venue

The setting for the ceremony and reception was Burritt on the Mountain, an open air-museum sitting atop Monte Sano Mountain and overlooking the city of Huntsville. The building acting as the backdrop in the top photo is the original home of Dr. William Burritt who donated his home and land to the city in 1955.

Due to weather, the outdoor ceremony was moved indoors to the Baron’s Bluff building. This 10,000-square-foot multi-use structure was added to the museum in 2012 and has become a popular event venue with gorgeous vistas. Isn’t Baron’s Bluff encapsulated in the fog ethereal? Just like a dream.

The event staff quickly executed the rainy day plan by adding chairs to the dance floor.  Unless you were privy to the original plan, you would have never known this was plan ‘B’. The extra chairs were removed shortly after the ceremony.

Here’s a collection of photos showing the setup for the reception.  Just beautiful!

The Bride and Groom

The bride, Casey, is an Alabama alum; and the groom, Brandon, is a Tennessee graduate. Both are HUGE fans of their respective alma maters; let me repeat HUGE! So it’s no surprise that Brandon would pop the question at an event that’s near and dear, the Alabama-Tennessee football game.  Although Knoxville wasn’t neutral territory, Brandon knew both families would be in the same city affording the perfect opportunity for everyone to witness the event. Casey went three-for-three over the weekend, scoring a sparkling diamond, a great guy, and the win (AL34-TN20)!

An Interesting Side Story

One of Casey and Brandon’s interesting side stories involves Nick and Terry Saban.  For those of you who aren’t collegiate sports fans, Nick Saban is the head coach of the Crimson Tide football team.  Casey added the Sabans to the guest list and much to her surprise, Nick and Terry acknowledged the invite. Responding with regrets, they sent an autographed photo along with their best wishes.  Casey deemed it the best wedding present, EVER!  This story was featured on news bites from ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Sporting News, FoxSports, and YellowHammer News to name a few.

The Dress

The Bridal Party

Casey and Brandon Jones' WeddingParty
Katie Pfingsten served as Maid of Honor along with bridesmaids Katie Nosal, Jenna Wilhems, Mary Keith, Margaret Baggett, and Sabrina Minton. Nathan Jones served as Best Man along with groomsmen Stan Helton, Dustin Plumlee, Kevin Herman, Gret Marcus and Tyler Marriott. Teagan Jones and Madelyn Pfingsten were flower girls and Cade Johnson, ring bearer.

The Bride and Groom’s Cakes

The bridge and groom cakes were edible art.  The bride’s cake evoked a wedding dress covered in lace and seed pearls. The back of the cake was adorned with gold buttons (Casey’s mom said Casey loved buttons as a child).  Brandon is a PGA Professional at the Robert Trent Jones’ Hampton Cove course, so the Master’s theme cake was a natural fit. The cakes were designed and baked by Heather Petersen of Slice at a Time.

The Flowers

All of the floral arrangements were designed by Kris Clark Designs.  Here choice of botanica and color are muted but make a statement at the same time.

Here’s some more photos of the flowers.  The large spray provided a focal point to one of the food stations.  The table centerpieces were a mix of a candle with sconce, surrounded by hydrangeas and roses; and the willow, which provided a contrast and added height.

The Food

There were multiple food stations placed against two walls for easy guest access.  Chef Margaret and her team at the Chef Next Door prepared a wide variety including a soup bar, southern shrimp and grits bar, bacon bar and pork tenderloin bar.  The food alone is worthy of it’s own post!

The Fun

The Happy Parents

After months of planning, both sets of parents look remarkably relaxed! Looks like the Marriotts and the Jones are doubly blessed to have gained a son and daughter, respectively. Kudos to the Marriotts for orchestrating and underwriting such a spectacular event. Such gracious hosts, as always.
