Walter Carter McKechnie
January 6, 1993 – April 23, 2015
Walter Carter McKechnie, affectionately known as Carter, was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Jennifer Crawford Stootsberry and Ian McKechnie. He graduated in 2011 from Elkhorn High School in Elkhorn, Nebraska where he played football. He served as an Electronics Technician Petty Officer Third Class in the United States Navy stationed in Charleston, South Carolina.
Among those he most loved were his mother, Jennifer, as well as his brothers and role models, Taylor and Wil. His father, Ian McKechnie, grandparents Walter Crawford, Rosemary Lareau and Randy McKechnie, and his aunts, uncles, and cousins loved him immensely. Carter was a faithful friend, a loyal family member, and a compassionate partner to his fiancé, Chelsea Davis.
Those who knew Carter had the joy of experiencing his quick wit, vibrant personality, and distinguishing smile. Carter was the heartbeat of the Crawford and McKechnie families: generous with his hugs, his time, and his many jokes. Carter savored life, time with loved ones, and of course, bacon.
Though taken far too soon from our lives, Carter will be remembered as the phenomenal man that he was; he has left an unfaltering impression on our hearts and in our lives.
Cheri, beautiful tribute to Carter. So sad to lose someone so young. I’m so sorry for your family’s lose.
Candy, thanks for your sentiment. Still can’t believe he’s not with us.
Cheri, it breaks my heart and the only thing that will help is time. You will always have the great memories you made as a family.
